Itsdagram For Windows Phone Live And Updated Almost Simultaneously

Itsdagram thee first fully-featured Instagram app (thus likely unofficial) for Windows Phone 8 became available only yesterday, with some bugs getting through that hindered some user experiences. The app has been beta tested by a small group which has worked apparently hard, as the Itsdagram version 1.1.5 has just gone live in the Store, fixing all the inconveniences mentioned above!

The update fixes some regional issues that many were having, including the regions where commas are used instead of periods and in general, bumps general app experience significantly. The improvements include an updated UI, allowing users to like photos from the feed view directly, in addition to comments. Along with the general performance improvements, there’s a filter update too, which will be pushed over-the-air tonight at some point too.

Being a high profile app reaching just about 12K downloads in one day, the rapid turnaround on bug fixes is fairly good news, allowing users around the world begin to participate on the Instagram network with their Windows Phones! The app can be grabbed directly from the Windows Phone Store for free. Once tried, do not hesitate to share your impressions in the comments below.

Windows Phone Has Doubled In Size From A Year Ago

"Windows Phone claiming the third spot is a first and helps validate the direction taken by Microsoft and key partner Nokia. Given the relatively low volume generated, the Windows Phone camp will need to show further gains to solidify its status as an alternative to Android or iOS," said Kevin Restivo, senior research analyst with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.

Being almost years since Windows Phone succeeded Windows Mobile, taking Microsoft to the third position from BlackBerry in the global market for Q1 2013 shipments. According to the latest report by IDC, the gap between the two platforms is getting smaller with Nokia's strong marketing push, making Microsoft a part of the iOS and Android party.

The two dominant OS-es - iOS and Android take 92.3 percent of all smartphone shipments combined, while Windows Phone has doubled its size from a year ago. The International Data Corporation mobile team research manager, Ramon Llamas, commented:

“No one here can argue with that summary. Android currently holds 75 percent of the market, while Apple's mobile platform takes 17.3 percent. Windows Phone jumped BlackBerry with 3.2 percent, while the latter lags behind on 2.9 percent. BlackBerry is reported to be making progress, but is still relying on BB7 smartphones for the majority of its shipment volume.”

Skype For Windows Phone 8 Updated With Stability Improvements

Skype, one of the largest and the most popular IM clients ever, seems to get mixed responses from Windows Phone users. The communication giant was acquired by Microsoft back in 2011 and since then, WP users have been hoping for a seamless Skype experience on their devices. Not quite what’s been expected, but it’s still nice to hear that Skype app for Windows Phone 8 has been hit by an update, bringing it up to the version of 2.6.0.148. The general fixes and stability improvements brought by the latest update include:

Increased chat reliability;
Increased call notification reliability;
Improvements in call reliability to phone numbers;
Fix for occasional missing message preview in the recent conversations list.

Those using Skype regularly would really appreciate the changes, as the missing message previews in the recent conversations list bug has been fixed. Skype for Windows Phone 8 is available right from the Windows Phone Store.

What are the features and fixes you’ve been waiting for or would like to see coming to Skype? Do not hesitate to share your ideas in the comments below.

UK TV Ad Teases Catwalk Camera

Nokia has been teasing new phones prior to their official announcements recently. After the Verizon Nokia Lumia 928's camera repeatedly teased before its actual reveal on Friday, we now get a camera tease of a new Nokia Lumia announcement scheduled for Tuesday in London.

The national television in the UK on Channel 4 has aired an advertisement that focuses on the camera of an as-of-yet unannounced Lumia device, followed by title cards reading "More than your eyes can see" and "The new Nokia Lumia is coming". The teased device is considered to be previously rumored Catwalk device.

In difference with the previous teases of Lumia 928 where the focus was on images produced by the camera, the latest one focuses on the physical camera unit itself, demonstrating lose-up shots of the raised lens and dual-LED flash. The featured camera is not surrounded by a glossy black or silver plate unlike the other Lumia devices. In fact, there's a distinct lack of labeling around the camera, with just a hint of writing on the other side of its hump.

The demonstrated camera, the flash, and the branding are consistent with the image leak of the Catwalk from last month, as the device appears to be built with an aluminum body frame while still possessing a plastic-type back panel as noted in the previous leaks.

Being less than two days away from the official announcement of new Nokia Lumia XXX, check the video provided below and do not hesitate to share your thoughts in the comments.

Nokia Lumia 928 Camera Capabilities Demonstrated Again

Not being shy about the upcoming Lumia 928, Nokia put the device up on their homepage and have slowly been releasing video footage few days ago. The previous one demonstrated how successfully the new Nokia Lumia coped with a rollercoaster called "The Hurricane" in Adventureland in Farmingdale, New York.

Today we get another tease, showing the Lumia 928 strapped to an octocopter which is set free in the wilds of British Columbia!

Along with the amazing video quality, there’s one more thing to note - a new screenshot of the device where you can see the Verizon logo for 4G/LTE! So with no doubt that the device is coming to Verizon, check the video provided below and do not hesitate to share your impressions in the comments.
